Big Parity is the first Verified Erasure Coding® system. While all storage system manufacturers implement a data protection scheme in their RAID, to date they have been limited to two parity drives (RAID6). This is because the advanced mathematics required to recreate missing data for more than 2 drives are so complex that they significantly disrupt the ability of the storage controller to process data access requests.
