StreamScale was established in 2007 by a group of storage industry veterans. StreamScale's mission is to develop and license Intellectual Property related to storage systems and their applications. Products developed to date include NumaRAID®, a RAID stack specifically designed to harness the power of multi-core processors, RAIDNext®, which extends the NumaRAID stack into multi-controller configurations (a RAID of RAIDs), and Big Parity, the first Verified Erasure Coding® library.

StreamScale founder Michael H. Anderson is a 20 year veteran of the storage industry, with 12 granted patents dating back to the 1980's, and the author of numerous industry publications. He is responsible for a number of industry firsts, including the first commercial RAID5 system, the first AV optimized disk drive, the first disk based video server, and now the first Verified Erasure Coding® library, Big Parity.

Technology

Big Parity combines a deep knowledge of how to scale computationally intensive numeric algorithms in a multi-core and many-core (MIC) environment with a new application of Erasure Coding. Compatible with Linux (GCC), Mac OS X (GCC) and Windows (Intel), Big Parity extends traditional RAID5(N+1) and RAID6(N+2) implementations into N+(3:127). It's Verified Erasure Coding® totally eliminates Silent Data Corruption and Silent Data Corruption Amplification in Big Data applications. In addition, it offers 7-30x the performance of competing Open Source Erasure Coding systems, making it immediately deployable in Big Data applications using standard X86 processors.
